U12's - Burton RFC v Lichfield

Lichfield U12s travelled to local neighbours Burton for the first fixture of the 2021/22 season. Burton were excellent hosts at their impressive new Battlestead Croft ground.

After an influx of new U12s players during the pre-season, 7 players were making a Lichfield debut, with some playing in a first competitive game of rugby. Several established Lichfield players were unavailable for selection due to covid-19 isolations, which allowed a chance for the new starters to shine.

From the outset both sides demonstrated a very physical mix of hard tackling and direct running, with fast flowing attacking play also on display.

Dry weather and excellent pitch conditions meant for some confident handling throughout the morning and both sides played intelligent kicking games to exploit any available space.

After 4 x 15 min periods, with both sides starting to feel the pace, the teams left the pitch with honours even.
