U7s Prove There’s No place like home

There is truly something special about playing at home! Hot on the heels of an outstanding display from the U7s, it was finally time to return to Cooke Fields and for the players to experience their first ever home fixture.

With four age groups at home, parking was at a distinct premium, but the U7s have been well versed in their key gameplay objectives. 1)Passing Backwards and 2)Making the Easy Pass weren’t necessarily going to get them there on time, but the ability to “ 3)Find the best space” was definitely needed to help their parents get parked!

It's fair to say Old Sills looked the part, all kitted out in their maroon kit, and our coaching team would happily admit to a few logistical glitches on our part (we're learning as much if not more than the players… so bear with us and we'll get there!). Whilst Sills looked smart, the attention was definitely on the many smiles and skills on show from both teams in the five matches rolling simultaneously. Packed sidelines, creating a brilliant supportive atmosphere for everyone involved. Ultimately the players continued to show their unique personalities and skills whilst the weather somehow granted us a break too.

A great morning of minis rugby and our U7s core values of enjoyment, participation and sportsmanship demonstrated beautifully by the players in their after match cheers and tunnel for the opposition. Fun clearly had on the field and definitely off with the post match chip butties and music!

So after our first successful home fixture, our thanks to Sillhillians for traveling to join us and making it a great morning. To our club grounds, bar and kitchen team for all their hard work and to the parents for braving the weather and of course the players for an awesome exhibition of our core values, entertaining rugby and for helping to make this squads first home fixture at Cooke Fields one to remember!
