Lichfield Rugby Club is thrilled to welcome Tom Hughes — stepping into a new role as our Backs & Attack Coach!
A statement signing and a serious boost to our attacking ambitions.
Tom’s journey started at just 18 with Staffordshire University, coaching both men’s and women’s sides — and it didn’t take long for success to follow.
At Lymm High School, he led a run to Twickenham glory in the Daily Mail Cup.
At Lymm Rugby Club, he delivered promotion in season one.
At Sale FC, he oversaw an unbeaten, bonus-point-winning promotion campaign — while developing top talent at Sale Academy.
Across Staffordshire with Stoke Rugby Club, Longton Rugby Club, and Newcastle Rugby Club, Tom built a winning reputation — including 4 Staffordshire Cups, 3 promotions, and a Papa John's Cup Final appearance.
Most recently at Leek Rugby Club, he continued to drive high-performance rugby at Level 5, while helping Staffordshire reach a Twickenham cup final.
Tom Hughes:
“I’m really excited to get started at Lichfield. There’s huge potential here and I can’t wait to work with the players and staff to build something special.”
Paul Hurst | LRUFC Head Coach:
“I’m really excited to get started with Tom. When I first met him, his passion and enthusiasm for the game came out in abundance. I’m sure the playing squad will feel that same energy when we begin pre-season training in June.”
We'd like to welcome Tom to the Lichfield Rugby Family
