Lichfield U9's travelled the short distance to Burton RUFC for their first match of the 2021/22 season.
After so much disruption last season it was great to see some competitive rugby on display between evenly matched players from both clubs.
Burton's speed and range of passing was perhaps a little sharper than the visitors but there was plenty of direct running and strong defence on show from Lichfield. Both teams swapped a number of tries and, pleasingly, there was a number of occassions where both teams completed a full set of tackles to force the turnover.
It all looks really promising as we begin the transition away from Tag rugby later this season.
As ever, a huge thanks to the players for some excellent rugby and representing the club Burton were excellent hosts at their new ground and a note of thanks to their coach for being really supportive in changing plans around to accommodate the greater numbers from Lichfield.
