Lichfield U9s v Stratford

A quick turnaround for some players and hot on the heels of the Worcester Festival, 16 players returned to Cooke Fields on the Sunday morning to host a touring team from Stratford on Avon.

Again, Lichfield fielded 2 teams however were met by a very strong well drilled and well organised Stratford squad who were able to break down the Lichfield defences and win the day.

That said even though the Lichfield players were facing their toughest opponents to date not one of them gave up and as the games progressed the Lichfield attacks, counter attacks and defensive tackles became more and more impressive with a number of stand out performances in both teams and a hatful of excellent tries being converted by the Lichfield players.

It is still early days for these youngsters especially as this is their first year of full contact tackling and these games although not won; provided the teams with a number of valuable lessons in the speed and physicality of the game and how it should be played - well done to Stratford on Avon who were deserved winners on the day.
