Lichfield u12s travelled to Solihull to finish off the season in style at the Camp Hill RFC Rugby festival.
In brilliant sunshine Lichfield started off their first match of the day against Bournville with a fantastic try within the first 30 seconds. Great Lichfield pressure chasing their own kick-off was enough to force the turnover from Bournville, and some quick ball through the hands put Archie through. He took his chance well to beat the final 2 defenders and score in the corner.
The hard baked end-of -season pitches caused various injury stoppages throughout the morning and the team unfortunately lost the services of our flying winger Ewan very early on, due to a hard knock he took to the ribs in the opening half against Bournville.
The u12s then played competitive and lively matches against Droitwich, Sutton Coldfield, Stourbridge and Camp Hill.
As the midday sun caused temperatures to rise and some tempers to fray, the Lichfield players all continued to play in the spirit of the game and gave 100% for each other, the team and the club.
Despite several 50:50 on-field decisions going against them, as well as being on the receiving end of numerous dangerous tackles, the players kept their composure, discipline and played to the whistle.
Many thanks to our hosts, Camp Hill RFC, who organised a fantastic day of rugby to help finish off a great season for a very promising Lichfield squad.
Also thanks to the u12 parents that travelled early across to Solihull, sought out elusive parking spots in the maze of cul-de-sacs that surrounded the festival, and gave their full support to the players as always.
