Match Report – Lichfield U12s vs Coalville
A tough test for Lichfield U12s today against a very well organised and physical Coalville side. On the back of FNL we came into Sunday knowing Coalville would being a challenge that would require a fresh mentality. From the outset it was clear this would be a challenging game, with Coalville playing with real structure and intensity. While Lichfield have been riding a real high in recent weeks, today was one of those days where things didn’t quite click as they have been.
That said, days like this are part of sport and an important part of development. Playing strong opposition is exactly what helps teams grow, and Coalville certainly provided that challenge.
There were still some outstanding individual performances across the matches. Jacob was tremendous before unfortunately leaving the game. Doug and Shay showed great tenacity in the first game, battling hard and never taking a backward step.
Special mention goes to Henry, whose work rate and determination were exceptional throughout, putting in a huge shift for the team. Geth was also outstanding and together they deservedly shared the Man of the Match recognition, closely followed by “big Geth” who also put in a strong performance.
It’s always difficult to come down from the highs of recent performances and face a day where things don’t quite go your way, but the attitude shown at times today – digging deep and sticking together – is what matters most. The boys will learn from this one.
As always, rugby gives you another opportunity next week
