Lichfield welcomed Wolverhampton to Cooke Fields knowing full well that it would be a tough game and highly competitive throughout.

Wolverhampton started the better team and some great forward phase play saw them score a neat try in the corner.

Lichfield hit back quickly and some good work in and around the rucks created the space we needed to hurt an aggressive Wolverhampton defence with 2 tries in succession giving Lich a 10-5 lead.

The coaches believed that Lichfield would move forward and dominate from this point on..... However, it soon became evident that some of the boys appeared tired and perhaps had gone to bed later than we expect the night before a game! (Discuss on Weds!)

Wolverhampton needed no excuses to take advantage of this and again looked the better team scoring twice themselves and take a 15-10 lead into the break!

After some pretty frank words at half time Lichfield started to play their own brand of rugby and if it weren't for some silly mistakes and erratic passing Lich could have been way ahead within the first 12 minutes of the second half! As it was the game twisted and turned a number of ways and both sides fought hard to try and gain the upper hand.

The score was even ..25 apeice moving into the final quarter. Then a break away try gave Wolverhampton the lead... The minutes were ticking away...When BOOM.. we (Lichfield) woke up... Our aggressive press defence caused Wolverhampton to fold and Lich brought the game level with 3 Mins to go!

The home side could smell victory! After securing clean ball from the resulting kick off Lich ran straight back at Wolverhampton ..despite a great tackle from the defending side Lichfield won the ruck and managed to drive over to score and seal a fantastic win! 35-30

Still masses of work to do and we will push forward again on Weds..
