Lich went to Burton with 12 players. This is always a tough fixture as they always have big and fast players. It was made even more difficult as we were asking several players to play out of their comfort zone and adopt a different position.
The 1st quarter was dominated by burton and they found themselves 20-0 up. We were too slow in this quarter with the ball and in to the ruck. Lich lost 2 players to injury and this took its toll.
After a stern team talk from the captain and themselves lich started the 2nd quarter brightly and a moment of individual skill saw lich pull an early try back. Lich did better this quarter and showed more desire. Unfortunately for them they went into half time 30-10. This I felt was the best quarter played
Then as the 2nd half played out it was very obvious the lich team tired and the burton side grew in confidence. Our possession became sloppy and desire deteriorated. Burton finally ran out 45-15.
Positives from game? Well the team didn’t give up!
There needs to be more desire and commitment and when we are down. No moaning!!
