What a Game!...

Like the Lions @ Newport.... Lichfield Tigers travelled to local rivals Sutton Coldfield with a smaller than usual squad due to last minute cry offs.

After 2 losses earlier this season Lichfield were determined to make an impact on Sutton soil.

Lich started slowly and Sutton needed no excuse to capitilise on some unusually sloppy play.. sprinting into a 10 point lead within 7 minutes!

Lichfield responded brilliantly and with the help of the pack started to get some much needed "Go Forward"... The confidence grew and the Tigers started to play some fantastic rugby ... scoring twice from cross field kicks and then superb offloads and quick hands saw a further 3 tries scored before the break. Sutton 10 - 25 Lichfield Half Time.

The home side started the stronger in the second half and used the advantage of their larger squad to rotate players and keep them fresh. Sutton were more aggressive at the breakdown and took advantage of some tired Tigers players... Scoring 6 well deserved unanswered tries in 15 minutes! (You Must tackle boys!).

This is not to say we didn't have the opportunities... We did ...but made some poor decisions and dropped the ball on a few scoring occasions to say the least.......

Before..... BOOM!!!

The coaches .. mixed positions up and it worked... Lich woke up .. and Sutton didn't know what had hit them... Lichfield showed that pure Pride and Belief can prevail. Relentless Pressure & Power hailed down on the Sutton defence and ultimately the home side could not stop the onslaught.

Lich came back and scored 3 times to level the score at 40 - 40.... Almost nicking it at the end but time was their worst enemy.

In all fairness a draw was probably the fair result.. both teams played great rugby at times and it was a privilege to be there to see another "Never Say Die" performance from the lads.
