Game 1:
Travelling away to face a strong Newport side Lichfield Lions talked pre-game about getting a strong start but the words didn’t translate into action and a 1st period marked with some needless penalties and switching off at times, allowed Newport to score a couple of quick tries.
Lichfield fought back to score 2 themselves but were edged out in the half by one try.

The second period was again marked with needless penalties and put Lichfield on the back foot. Some missed tackles and good play meant Newport scored again. Lichfield again, through good work at the breakdown and strong ball carrying, fought back and ended up drawing the half 15 - 15. (Score Newport 30 - 25 Lions)

Game 2:
The second fixture saw a much more focused and energetic performance. Tough at the breakdown and destructive in the scrums the boys really grasped the game taking a 15 - 0 lead in the first period with some lovely support play setting up the tries.

The 2nd half continued the same with the boys even getting a charge down try. Ending the half 15-5. (Score Newport 5 - 30 Lions)

Overall a great effort to win 50 - 35 against a good opposition.... However, we must start the games faster and bring the intensity we finished with, throughout the match. Well done boys.... See you all Weds
