Lichfield made the long trip up to North Staffs for their Semi Final Game v Leek knowing full well that this would need an epic performance if they were to progress to their First Staffs Cup Final.

Although it was mighty cold the weather held off and the large crowd created a fantastic cup atmosphere.

Both sides were clearly up for it and thrived on the support from the sidelines. It was great to see two different styles compete against each other... Leek were a huge side who worked hard using their size to make ground.. whilst Lichfield were more fluent and used their hands to work the ball around the pitch.

The game ebbed and flowed with some brilliant rugby on show..

With the Score level at 15 All and Lichfield being reduced to 12 players or an unfortunate high tackle...... The last 10 minutes was as expected "EPIC"... Leek were relentless.. with attack after attack being help back by a superb Lichfield defence. This was by far the best defensive performance we have seen as parents and coaches.. Leek just could not get through.

With the game ending level at Full Time.. The Coaches and Players shook hands and agreed the only way we could settle it fairly was by "Tossing the Coin"..... Later to find out we would have gone through anyway on the AWAY Team rule!!!

Lichfield are through to the Final but we would ALL like to thank our hosts for providing such a great morning of Rugby... Two proper Sides going at it hammer and tongs.... and then brilliant hospitality afterwards.
