After last weeks Cup Final defeat... It was awesome to see the boys show great resilience to get back to winning ways.

In tricky blustery conditions Lichfield started the game well and some great handling skills saw the boys take an early lead.

Matlock evened the score after picking up a loose ball from a ruck and touching down in the corner.

The game soon evened itself out and it became apparent that two different game plans were on show. The away side relied heavily on their pack to power forward whilst Lichfield looked to use their slight of hand and pace.

The first half was tight and really good to watch.. the score ebbed and flowed and finished with Lich one try ahead at 20 -15!

The second half was fantastic.. Lichfield's pack took advantage of the downhill slope and dominated the scrum. The result was that the backs had more time to play and make the correct decisions in attack. Lichfield made the most of the wind too with 2 tries being converted from excellent tactical kicking.

Although Lichfield accelerated through the gears to take a 20 point lead, Matlock never gave up and scored another 2 tries before Lichfield completed the win with a try at the end!

It was a great win for the lads and it was really pleasing to see the backs be super confident and use the moves that they have worked on in training. You looked superb boys...
