Lichfield u13s welcomed Shepshed RFC to the pitches at KES on Sunday, as the first of 2 x u13 fixtures (Rugeley u13s were to follow).

The game started with Lichfield playing uphill, but despite this managed to register a number of early tries, which kept Shepshed firmly on the back foot.

Lichfield played a more composed game than in recent matches and looked to stretch the Shepshed defence across the entire width of the pitch.

The Lichfield forward pods crashed through the defensive lines seemingly at will, allowing Lichfield fly-half Devan to release a free-flowing backline to register a series of tries with no reply. U13s inside-centre Addison adding a few more to his impressive try-scoring tally this season.

With the second half came a more resolute defensive performance from Shepshed and the free scoring Lichfield backline were made to work harder for their points.

An individual moment of brilliance from the Shepshed full-back saw him return a Lichfield clearance kick the length of the field to score, to give the visitors some early hope of an unlikely comeback, but a similar pattern to the first half soon returned and Lichfield made the game safe with 10 mins to go.
