OUR DEFENCE WON THE GAME TODAY. END OF STORY.
Against a good side who clearly weren’t used to what we brought today, our attitude was
massive. The willingness to work, to defend our line and to keep going when the pressure
was on was outstanding.
We said as coaches beforehand that our defence would be the difference — and the boys
delivered.
Our ability to scan, identify and acknowledge threats early was huge. Our ability to contest
the rucks, scramble and get back into shape to defend was even bigger. Time and again,
the boys put their bodies on the line and refused to give anything away.
And then, as the game went on, our attack and execution of skill ramped up too.
As a collective. As a squad. Again, we are thriving.
There is so much more to come from everyone this early in the season, and that is what
makes this group so exciting. We now move on to the next week of work, looking at how we
can improve ourselves and continue that journey.

A telling comment from their coach afterwards. We take the compliment, but we also stay
grounded. There is no getting carried away. One week at a time. One job at a time. One step
forward as a squad.
