Our age group is made up of a group of approximately 40 boys, who attend a wide number of schools in and around Lichfield. We have players of all shapes, sizes and physical development - there is a home for anyone in rugby.

At this level competitive rugby is represented by a Cup competition organised by Staffordshire Rugby Union. This involves up to 5 games during the season, meaning the majority of Sunday fixtures are friendly games, where the quality and development of our rugby is the focus, rather than necessarily the result.

We believe in playing a wide variety of opposition including teams from outside Staffordshire. We try wherever possible to keep travel time to away games at around 60 minutes or less.

For games we adhere to a club dress code and expect the players to turn up for games in shirt, club tie; school trousers and shoes. They must also shower and change back after games. Learning to do up a tie is a parental responsibility to teach their son!

Our age group is for boys who are in Year 8 at school and anyone is welcome to come and join us. No rugby experience is necessary, as our focus is on developing players’ skills throughout the season.

Rugby uses a ‘building block’ approach and aims to equip players with the skills they need as they build towards the XV-a-side game. Season by season players learn new aspects of the game – you can find out more about this by clicking the link below and visiting the RFU’s website.

The focus we follow is:

1. Put the child first
2. Maintain rugby as a game for all shapes and sizes
3. Increase enjoyment for all
4. Increase involvement for all
5. Retain players in the game

We train or play matches on Sundays between 10:30 and 12 noon approximately.

The RFU rules that we play our games around can be downloaded here.

We play mixed ability teams and to give our players lots of opportunity to play rugby, we will usually play 2 different clubs on the same Sunday.

Anyone is welcome to come and try rugby with us. If you would like to find out more about our age group, please contact us (details at the top of the page).
