Sunday 3rd April – Lichfield v Leicester Forest East

Lichfield playing on second team pitch away from club house in first half with kick off at 11:04. Try to Lichfield 11.05 from kick-off, LFE fielded and moved ball left from ruck then lost the ball into touch. From the Lichfield line out, the ball was moved out along the backs. Great hands and an incisive break by Charlie Semple, who cut inside, found Lucas Laing, who danced his way in from the 22 to score under the posts

Try to Lich 13 mins. Even flowing game, swinging backward & forward. LFE had the ball and a maul was set up, Fin Freeman ripped the ball free and it was passed out to the backs, Chaz Vernon received the ball and ran in from 35 yards, breaking a few tackles and carrying a few bodies over with him to score under the posts.

18 mins try to Lichfield, ball moved out to the left and Ruben looped around the wingers and ran down the touchline to score 15 metres in from touch to the left hand side of the posts.

23 mins Lich try from a lineout driving maul to Lich in the 22, LFE gave away a penalty which Ruben took quickly and passed into Fin Freeman, who ran in from 10 yards to right hand side of the try line.

30 mins LFE try, after sustained pressure and lots of tapped penalties to LFE, their big centre crashed over to the left-hand side of the post.

Second half LFE to kick off, Lichfield playing towards the clubhouse.

35 mins LFE try. After Lichfield lost a scrum against the head there were a succession of rucks and increased pressure from LFE leading to the scrum half shooting through a gap scoring to right hand side of the post which was then converted.

40 mins try to LFE, after another period of pressure, Lichfield couldn’t clear their lines and LFE recycled the ball well to score.

50 mins LFE try, after a spilt pass in the centre when Lichfield were attacking across the LFE 22, the full back picked the ball up and ran 60 yards before superbly pulled down by Lucas Laing just short of the line, superb cover. From the subsequent ruck Lichfield conceded a penalty. The LFE player tapped and went on his own and scored from 5 m out.

A game of two halves lads….outstanding in the first and then we went off the boil in the second, the only saving grace was your absolute desire to win……the defence was awesome but we seriously need to work on a) how we maintain focus and if it slips b) how we get back on point
However…….another win against a side we lost comfortably to not 5 months ago, so well done Guys, 13 in a row!!
