With no competition allowed at the moment, 35 players from Bromsgrove and Lichfield had the chance to mix in together and be part of 8 new teams for the day.
In a busy hour, our U7s played 12 games across 4 pitches. With the cold kicking in, the kids were very keen to run, with most games seeing more than 20 tries!
The coaching staff at Lichfield would like to say a huge thanks to Bromsgrove coaches and parents for making the journey up the M5 in near-flood conditions. We really appreciate the effort.
A special mention this week to the 10 Lichfield coaches who turned up well before kick-off to set up the fixture. Amongst the herding, lost tags, off-sides and cold hands on the day, it’s very clear that the players have greatly improved since our first game – a testament to kids and coaches alike.
Almost all of the 35 players went home knowing how good it feels to score a try in the pouring rain – a vital step for every great rugby career.
Just as the sun was coming out, the final whistle went. After the tricky weather, the kids were delighted to finish with a chip butty treat in the warm clubhouse.
We’re looking forward to seeing Bromsgrove again soon. But first, onto our next fixture at Broadstreet RFC, 28th November.
