This weekend our Lichfield u13s Girls visited Longton where Lichfield and Stafford joined forces to play a joint Longton & Leek team, playing 4x15 minutes against the hosts.
Playing 8 aside full contact Lichfield and Stafford Kicked off the game. Longton & Leek proved a tough competitive opposition. Both sides worked hard to understand and gel with their new comrades.
Dry weather and a soft pitch meant for some confident handling throughout the afternoon with both sides playing intelligent fast handling games to exploit any available space on what was a smaller pitch.
Longton & Leek made some great ground with some heavy tackles and slick passing in the first 2 quarters. As the game moved on into the 3rd and 4th quarter Lichfield and Stafford started to find rhythm. Thanks to Rob Jess moved into the scrum half position and distributed the ball well setting up some lovely tries.
Great tackling from Hannah & Imogen held the wings with great speed from Claudia down the wings in return.
Longton & Leek controlled the first two quarters adapting quicker than the Lichfield & Stafford girls but Lichfield and Stafford came back and controlled long spells of the 3rd and 4th quarter showing fantastic teamwork holding the line protecting the defensive areas and showing real strength.
After 4 x 15 min periods, in cold conditions all the girls played some lovely Rugby.
Well done Girls, some fantastic Rugby and brilliant team work with Stafford.
Thanks to all the parents for your fantastic support so far this season.
