Despite playing with a player down for the whole of the match, the Lichfield U12 girls romped home to a convincing victory against a combined Stafford and Leek team. The teams physical style proving too much against gallant opposition.
Excellent breakdown work from Emily and Niamh consistently allowed Kira a platform to launch quick attacks and to link up with Rosie, Jessica and Tilly, whose strength and power were too much for the opposition defence.
The dominant performance only punctuated by a period of 5 minutes, where through injuries Lichfield were 3 players down - allowing for a brief resurgence from Stafford and Leek which resulted in 2 tries in quick succession.
Highlights of the game included Jessica, on debut, scoring down the right wing after receiving the ball in her own half, a number of team tries in which every player was involved at some stage, and Rosie finding a new weapon for her arsenal in the hand off!
A great opportunity to shake off the rust and we look forward to our first official fixture early in October
