Today's fixture against Barkers Butts and Birmingham Exiles marked the end of our regular season. The girls showed just how far they'd come with some excellent passages of play and a whole-team performance that will set us in great stead as we step up to Under 14s. In attack we looked fantastic with strong running into space, quickly recycled ball and tireless support play. The girls drew in defenders and created space to exploit on the wings but also knew when to look up and go straight. In defence, the tackling looked fantastic but again we were letting the opposition run at us as opposed to pressing hard. It was a hot day so tiredness will have undoubtedly been a factor. The journey has been fantastic across the season and today we saw some real examples of how far the girls have come and they should all look forward to moving forwards into the U14s.

Ellamai returned from injury and reminded us of her speed on the ball and was only denied her hat-trick by the touchline. Amelia had another good game and exploited gaps in the opposition defence to break through and score her tries. Freya continued to be a strong scrum half and put a lot of pressure on her opposite number. Phoebe showed her agility to sidestep through the opposition and hooked well throughout. Tori was strong in defence and made a couple of powerful runs to break the gain line. Molly put in a crunching tackle to win possession and was strong on the wing. Eveie was strong going forwards and made hard yards against some tough tackling defenders. Elyza continues to grow in confidence and helped bring down opponents as well as releasing support runners with quick passing. Caitlin caught everything thrown or kicked her way and ran hard at the opposition to put the team on the front foot. Finally, this week’s Captain and Player of the Match was Megan who led from the front and worked hard both in attack and defence. She also led the team well and kept the team working together at times when it was starting to get a little fractious.
